International Conference "Can We Treat Our Way Out Of The HIV Epidemic?".

06/05/2009 - 00:17
08/05/2009 - 23:59
Etc/GMT+1

This conference is organized by the International Centre for Reproductive Health (Ghent University) and the South African Centre for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis (Stellenbosch University) in collaboration with the University of the Western Cape and the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences. The theme of the conference responds to the ongoing debate about the role of antiretroviral therapy for HIV prevention in Sub-Saharan Africa. This conference aims to be a forum to present and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this pro-active, out-of-the-box approach. By the end of the conference, HIV treatment experts, epidemiologists, health system experts and health economists will have formulated an answer to the question whether or not we can treat our way out of the HIV epidemic. The conference will take place at the Stellenbosch Lodge in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Stellenbosch, about 50 kilometers from Cape Town, is set among the spectacular mountains of Jonkershoek Valley and the seasonally renewed foliage of the wine-producing region to which it belongs.  For more info and registration, visit http://www.hivearlytreatment.org
