On behalf of the Hélène De Beir Foundation, we have the pleasure of inviting you to participate in the Global Responsibilities for Global Health Rights Conference on 19-21st October 2009 in Brussels, Belgium.  The language of the Conference will be English.

As the global health architecture becomes increasingly complex an overhaul of global funding modalities and international health initiatives is pressing. The Hélène De Beir Foundation firmly believes that global leaders need to move forward with a solution modelled on a ‘World Social Health Insurance’ or a ‘Global Health Fund’. The Conference aims to move from concepts to practice by bringing together leading academics and practitioners in the field of global health and human rights. It will achieve this goal by encouraging innovative frank dialogue on moving the concept of universal health protection from theory to reality and by advancing the understanding of global responsibilities and what they entail. The Conference will focus on three issues: clarifying the conceptual framework, understanding global responsibilities and overcoming the obstacles associated with putting these concepts into practice.  Attached to this invitation you will find a more detailed description. 

Please confirm your attendance by 15 June 2009.  Please note that the maximum number of participants will be 80. The number of participants may therefore be limited. Limited funding for travel and hotel is available for participants.
